NCIMB operates a dual level mode of storage for clients who wish their important strains professionally maintained and safeguarded but not made available to third parties without prior consent.

Cultures can be preserved by NCIMB; either frozen over liquid nitrogen, or as freeze-dried ampoules (or both). Alternatively, clients can send cultures ready prepared for immediate storage. In either case, the safe deposit service is completely confidential and recall (or distribution) of cultures is carried out strictly according to the instructions of the client.

For clients with key industrial strain or organisms requiring high security storage managed to cGMP, either as their main respository or as an off-site backup resource, we are pleased to offer a secure storage facility. This service offers the same degree of confidentiality and storage options as with safe deposits, but operates to increased standards in terms of monitoring and backup facilities.
