Pure authentic cultures of selected QA strains can be dried on filter paper strips and sealed individually in glass ampoules or screw-top vials. This format is intended for simple and easy single-use procedures such as quality assurance testing of culture media. After opening the ampoule or vial, the strip can be dropped into or onto the appropriate medium. This means a reduced risk for contamination, no expert handling requirements, and a shelf life considerably longer than vacuum-packaged gelatin-based products.
