ECCO 39

We are delighted to be sponsoring the 39th ECCO conference, which will be held online from 22 – 24 September. The event is a great opportunity for culture collections throughout Europe to get together, compare notes, collaborate, and discuss the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in supporting scientists that work with microorganisms. The event, which is being hosted by PHE culture collections, was postponed from last year, so it will be great to have this opportunity to get together with everyone, albeit virtually.

This year our culture collection curator Dr Samantha Law will be chairing a session on the validation and use of culture collections while our NGS services manager, Dr Daniel Swan, will be chairing a session on Microbiomes as well as giving a presentation on the topic of “next generation” biobanking capacity – how to describe, store and innovate from collected microbial consortia – what does this mean and how can it be achieved?

Microbiome research is of so much interest at the moment, and this could be a key topic for culture collections so we are looking forward to the discussions!
