NCIMB’s CEO Carol Phillips introduces students to the microbial superheros of NCIMB

Our CEO Carol Phillips was delighted to be invited to give the University of Aberdeen Annual Microbiology Lecture this year. This annual microbiology lectures aim to stimulate senior school students whose aspirations may lie in studying Medicine, Biomedical or Biological Sciences at University, and are organised by the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition.

Carol’s lecture, which was titled “Microbiology superheros – how microorganisms are saving the world” gave the students an introduction to the diversity of microorganisms held within the National Collection of Industrial, Food and Marine Bacteria, and focused ways in which microorganisms can be used to tackle some of the big issues facing mankind today.

Carol said: “I really enjoyed meeting the enthusiastic young scientists that attended the lecture as was very impressed by the insightful, questions they asked – they showed great potential for the future!”.
