We’ve got two exciting microbiome events to look forward to this summer. Our Microbiome Services Manager Julie Mackinnon will be heading to the first networking event of the Microbiome and Infectious Disease (MaID) Innovation Hub on the 8th of July and Brandon Childers is attending the INFORM Hub Summer 2025 event in Reading on 24 June.
INFORM was established to unite researchers and industry experts from fields including gut microbiology, food science, nutrition, immune function, mental health and sports science with the aim of delving into the exciting potential of functional foods to support optimal health and well-being, and tackling challenges through a multidisciplinary lens to generate innovative ideas. Presentation topics include:
- Probiotics and perimenopausal wellbeing
- Gut-brain connections in Parkinson’s Disease and cognition
- Microbiome analysis tools for gut health
- The gut microbiome’s role in sleep, stress, and recovery
The Microbiome and Infectious Disease Innovation Hub was established to drive development and commercialisation of microbiome therapies, novel antimicrobials and diagnostics for infectious disease. Microbiomes offer an exciting new frontier in tackling infectious disease, cancer, inflammatory bowel disease and mental health. They are also an important source of novel antimicrobials, such as bacteriophage, that could be used to help tackle antimicrobial resistance.
The MaID event in July will bring together companies actively engaged in microbiome innovation with companies interested in how microbiome innovation can enhance their business with supporting and enabling organisations dedicated to developing the Liverpool City Region microbiome ecosystem.
